This facility is open to everyone and runs every Monday from 10am to 1pm. Anyone who needs support with their job search is more than welcome to just drop in, no appointment is necessary.
We are committed to delivering a high quality professional service, in a friendly and informal atmosphere. The My Space team provide a whole range of services including: identifying skills, writing CVs, using Universal Job Match, applying for jobs online and practising interview skills. We provide free computer and internet access in our IT area, for visitors to use for their job searching. We also offer free refreshments and our visitors can also benefit from a subsidised lunch courtesy of Vine Dining.
We encourage everyone to improve their computer skills, so that they can work more independently. The Vine Centre is a Learn My Way centre, and anyone can sign up to this fantastic online learning programme. In conjunction with this, we also run regular events such as Get Online week to encourage people to increase their skills on the internet.
In addition there are regular speakers and workshops at My Space on subjects such as; confidence building, interview skills and jobs in the local area. We have regular visits from the VIVID Homes Employment and Training Advisor, and also from a National Careers Service representative, to give one-to-one help and run workshops. We have strong links with other organisations such as Inspiring Enterprise (for those clients interested in starting their own business), My Journey (for travel advice) and Hampshire Library Service (i-pad lending scheme). We even had a visit from the HR department at Virgin Media who gave one-to-one advice to clients.
The My Space team encourages everyone to embark on training to improve their skills in a range of subjects. Many courses are held within the Centre in conjunction with organisations such as; Hampshire Futures, Aspire (BCOT), People Plus, Community First and Yateley Community Learning. Our in-house Vine Dining Catering Programme is very popular and leads to a Level 2 qualification in Food Hygiene Level 2. We also refer people to training courses outside the Vine such as Rushmoor Borough Council’s Skilled Up programme and National Career Service’s Executive Workshops as well as courses at Aldershot Library.
