Job Club

This facility is open to everyone and runs every Monday from 10am to 1pm. Anyone who needs support with their job search is more than welcome to just drop in, no appointment is necessary.

We are committed to delivering a high quality professional service, in a friendly and informal atmosphere. The Job Club team provide a whole range of services including: identifying skills, writing CVs, using Universal Job Match, applying for jobs online and practising interview skills. We provide free computer and internet access in our IT area, for visitors to use for their job searching. We also offer free refreshments and our visitors can also benefit from a subsidised lunch courtesy of Vine Dining.

We encourage everyone to improve their computer skills, so that they can work more independently. The Vine Centre is a Learn My Way centre, and anyone can sign up to this fantastic online learning programme. In conjunction with this, we also run regular events such as Get Online week to encourage people to increase their skills on the internet.

In addition there are regular speakers and workshops at Job Club on subjects such as; confidence building, interview skills and jobs in the local area. We have regular visits from the VIVID Homes Employment and Training Advisor, and also from a National Careers Service representative, to give one-to-one help and run workshops. We have strong links with other organisations such as Inspiring Enterprise (for those clients interested in starting their own business), My Journey (for travel advice) and Hampshire Library Service (i-pad lending scheme). We even had a visit from the HR department at Virgin Media who gave one-to-one advice to clients.

The Job Club team encourages everyone to embark on training to improve their skills in a range of subjects. Many courses are held within the Centre in conjunction with organisations such as; Hampshire Futures, Aspire (BCOT), People Plus, Community First and Yateley Community Learning. Our in-house Vine Dining Catering Programme is very popular and leads to a Level 2 qualification in Food Hygiene Level 2. We also refer people to training courses outside the Vine such as Rushmoor Borough Council’s Skilled Up programme and National Career Service’s Executive Workshops as well as courses at Aldershot Library.

There is no need to make an appointment for Job Club, just turn up any Monday between 10am and 1pm. If you have any queries, please contact Nicola Norman by email:-

Success Stories

Success Story

B enrolled at Job Club having been referred by the Job Centre in 2017. He had previously worked as a carpenter but hadn’t been in paid work since 2007 as he’d taken a career break to look after his mother. Due to the care skills he had learnt during his career break, he wanted to change career direction and become a care worker. The Job Club team created a CV for him and helped him search for jobs in the care sector in the local area.

The Job Club team signposted him to a Recruitment Event at a care home in Fleet. He was called for an interview, so we gave him a one-to-one interview skills session. He was successful in gaining a job there, and returned to Job Club for some help with completing all the paperwork required for the job, including a DBS check with one of our volunteers accompanying him to the Post Office.

Success Story

C enrolled at Job Club having been referred by the Job Centre in 2017. He hadn’t worked since 2009, and wanted to brush up on his computer skills, as well as learning how to apply for jobs in the current market. We helped him to put his CV on Dropbox, which made it easier for him to apply for jobs using his phone.

He found Job Club was a real asset as he didn’t have internet access at home. One week he applied for 9 jobs, and has now started work as a customer service assistant at a supermarket in Farnham, with the view to training for a duty manager role.
